• I found a new apartment today! Ian and Vlad and I should hopefully be moving in at the end of this month. I’m very excited; it is a four bedroom apartment on Charles Street in Beacon Hill. This is particularly nice for me, since I live about 3 blocks down the street now. The apartment is currently being renovated with a whole new kitchen and will have laundry and other nice stuff. It has a private deck right off the kitchen and dining/living room and a common roof deck up about 4 flights. The question now is how to move all my stuff. It doesn’t make much sense to rent a truck to drive 1000 feet, but I’m not particularly interested in moving all that crap myself. Oh, did I mention that my street was one-way?
  • The best thing about this apartment is the jealousy factor and the simple fact that an apartment like this cannot be found in Boston. First off, 4 bedrooms are really hard to find. Secondly, they aren’t found on Charles Street in the nicest and most convenient part of town. Thirdly, they aren’t found by a couple of slackers on the first day at the first rental agency the found. Fourthly, they aren’t found at this stage in the game for this cheap. We rule.
  • Our realtor had a hard time getting in contact with the woman overseeing the renting of this apartment, so we had some downtime a few times during the afternoon. At one point, I decided to show Ian the Public Garden, because he really hasn’t seen Boston despite being here for about three months now. While we were walking around the duck pond there, a small kid (a year old, maybe?) fell into the pond and started screaming. His sister, who was with him and maybe three years old, couldn’t get him out. So Lifeguard Ian Peters grabbed him and saved him. Aside from being soaked and doing some coughing, he was all right and his family thanked him profusely. Then the mother bitched out the daughter for letting that happen, yadda yadda. So today’s Gold Star goes to Ian Peters for saving a young boy’s life!
  • Didn’t get much work done because of the apartment business; went to the cave to get my Friends and West Wing fix, and then headed home. Nothing particularly interesting in those events.
