• Today did not start off on the right foot. First, I had this half-sleeping dream. Those dreams are always the most realistic to me, and this one really creeped me out because I was in the exact setting in the dream and in real life (ie. my bed).

Anyway, I am half-awake, awoken by a noise that I later recognize to be my door slamming. I see a shadow move in the doorway between my living room and my bedroom. Shortly thereafter a girl (who looks a lot like my friend Jamie, but it’s not her) appears in my doorway, and without noticing I am there, takes a cursory look around the room. She walks back into the living room, and then a guy pokes his head in the room, sees that I am there “sleeping” and then says “SHIT!” After that, two more girls take a step into my room, and look around it. They were acting as if they were thinking about renting my apartment, which makes some sense in the dream world because I am actually moving out of it.

The only reason why I knew it was a dream was because a few things didn’t quite add up. First off, I haven’t told my landlord that I’m leaving my current apartment yet. (Mental note: Tell my landlord that I’m leaving my current apartment.) Secondly, no one was showing them the place. They were just four random young people looking around. Third, two people can’t fit in this apartment, let alone four. Fourth, with the exception of the one aforementioned expletive, no one said anything. Fifth, the floor didn’t creak when they walked where it does in real life.

  • Things got worse as I got to work and noticed that my wavelan card seemed to be broken and my filesystem had some serious errors. Geeky things, I realize, but enough to seriously piss me off. Anyway, I was fortunately able to repair both problems.
  • Coffee at Cafe Pamplona with Nat and Jacob. There I discovered that a whole column of keys on my laptop’s keyboard broke. I seem to have fixed it, but it’s still flaky. I may call Dell while I am in California and try to get it fixed. Anyway, after a few coffees Nat really had to piss so we moved to Algiers and got further loaded on caffeine. Nat did some hacking, which was good for him, even though his hacks were of questionable real value.
  • Nat drove Jacob and I home, after we detoured to see where we could get WaveLAN around Cambridge. Being a geek is so fun sometimes.
