I’ll try doing the weblog thing again. Still playing with the format, so it might look completely different tomorrow.

Today it was really hazy in the city. Apparently it was caused by smoke from forest fires in Quebec. Gerald took some pictures.

The National Weather Service assures us that the smoke is 12,000 feet above sea level and not a danger to the public health. However, Fox 25 news, the pinnacle of TV journalism in Boston, has questioned that assertion, so why should I trust those shifty weather service bastards? Sweet, American Idol is on!

Nat has a little bit about the Beyond the Big Dig town hall meeting we went to in late May.

The thing that bothered me most about the whole ordeal was that god damned adver-journalism they showed us before the town meeting even really began. It was insulting and a complete waste of time to be shown an introductory television show, complete with commercials while we sat in a 300 year old building complete with uncomfortable chairs and no (or at least horribly insufficient) air conditioning. It served to only taint the rest of the superficial production.

Sadly, it is very clear after attending the meeting that there is really very little consensus on the whole matter. Perhaps more troubling is the lack of organization and communication between the neighborhoods, the city and state governments, and the ancillary organizations such as the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. My sincere hope is that those involved can actually take a minute to step back and objectively assess what is in the best long-term interest for the city. I wish I could be more optimistic, but hearing the staunch subjectivity of many of those on the local panel doesn’t fill me with confidence.

And Nat’s right, Dukakis doesn’t look like he’s aged a day since his presidental run. Oh, except that his hairstyle sucks less.
