brainshare

22 March 2004

I’m in Salt Lake City at Brainshare, which is a conference all about Novell.

SLC is kind of like Las Vegas, only without sin. It’s very flat, very gridlike, and the streets are extremely wide. It’s very different from what I’m used to. It’s very dry here. And, there are snowcapped mountains all over the place, but it’s 75 degrees outside. Very lovely.

This conference is crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it. There are monkeybuttons everywhere. There’s a fifty foot banner hanging from the ceiling with a monkeybutton on it. No exaggeration. The swag has our logos on it. The CDs have our software on it. The keynote today featured a bunch of Ximian snacks, including Red Carpet remotely managing a rcd running on Netware. (!!!)

Also, the iFolder code was released today GPL. It’s a mono app and it’s so very cool.
