James: I use home-rolled PHP for my blog, and I use datestamps, and I typed in the wrong one. Oops. I’ve fixed it now.
I have been to the future though. It’s pretty sweet.
Speaking of the future, have you guys checked out those Beagle demos? They’re awesome! What? You have? Oh, ok, yeah. On OSNews, you say? With comments from people who haven’t tried the software and have no idea what they are talking about? That’s shocking! That’s just shocking!
Trow has here last week and we made some pretty good progress on the pooch. After I saved a few dozen megs in allocations and heap fragmentation, he totally showed me up by hacking up Ben’s profiler and eliminating several hundred megs of crap. He also moved Lucene index optimization off into its own process, which should save us a ton in the long run. Meanwhile I’ve mostly been in firefighting mode: fixing the icons in Best with Mozilla 1.7 and getting the dbus mono bindings working again after Havoc landed his enormous patches last week. One fairly minor issue aside, I think I am finally finished.
Sad to see Johnny Carson died. I was 12 when he went off the air so I don’t have any vivid memories of the show, and I certainly missed all of the greatest ones. I was just mentioning recently to someone that I’d love to see some of the best episodes on DVD. The problem with a show that’s on 5 nights a week is that there is simply so much material that it’s basically impossible to distill them down into quality DVD form. The fact that most of the tapes from the 60’s were destroyed doesn’t help things either.
Lastly, for my mom: my kitchen table. (Thanks Phil for helping me put it together.)
