On Sunday, ballots for the GNOME Foundation elections were mailed out. Even after checking my spam folder, I didn’t receive a ballot. I scanned the membership rolls and didn’t find my name. I assumed that my membership expired and that I must have missed the renewal email, but I simply didn’t get one of those either. On closer examination of the rolls, there are a large number of people conspicuously missing, including two current board members: JRB and Federico. Others missing: Robert Love, Nat Friedman, Miguel de Icaza, Jeff Stedfast, Havoc Pennington, Owen Taylor, Edd Dumbill, Iain Holmes, Matthias Clausen, Calum Benson, Chris Blizzard, etc. etc.
It seems like something related to the renewal of membership is seriously amiss. I hope the membership committee addresses the issue before the election.
Update: Happy to see that the election is being extended. If you don’t see your name on the list, you can still renew your membership status. I hope in the future reminder emails will be sent out ahead of time.
