Google Reader today fixed my one real pet peeve about it: sorting articles oldest first. To be honest, I was amazed they pushed it out with this feature in the first place, but I think that a lot of people aren’t obsessive about having their unread item count be zero. (I also am that way about email.) I would still like to be able to arrange the feeds in the left pane arbitrarily rather than alphabetically, but I’ve become accustomed to it and it doesn’t bother me much anymore.
Nat was on the latest episode of LugRadio talking about recent goings on at Novell, including the Microsoft deal. My personal feeling is that you can reasonably think it’s a good deal or you can reasonably think it’s a bad deal, but if you go off the deep end about it (as I feel Groklaw has done) it does everyone a disservice. It was nice to hear the LugRadio guys express much the same sentiment. I’m also thankful that in all matters — not just the Novell/MS thing — they’re open-minded and not inclined assume malice in people’s actions, whether deliberate or not. They’re fair in their interviews, but they’re also not going to pull any punches. Keep up the good work, guys.
Today I checked in code to switch Beagle over to gmcs and using the .NET 2.0 class libraries. This means that we’ll start using generics in the code, which will make the code more readable, less buggy, and fix the few remaining boxing issues. I’m excited.
